Inspired Vision

Star Bunny Studio 2014

Monday is here again, no way to stop time from moving forward.
Fall is coming to an end and, the official start to winter is growing closer and closer.

This seems like the perfect time to Give Thanks ,
While looking forward to new beginnings.

Connecting to to an inspired vision gives us
something to look forward to and grow towards.

Now is a good time to envision the seeds of your new beginning.
What will your inspired vision of a new beginning look like?

The Art Of Printmaking

Star Bunny Studio 2014

Printmaking is a craft that is near and dear to my heart.
The act of taking a blank piece of paper and loving transforming it into art,
is something I find to basically magical.

I had an opportunity to explore Lone Goose Press recently.
I was beyond thrilled to find this lovely print studio tucked into my neighborhood.

Quality over quantity is the motivation behind the work at Lone Goose Press.
Here, you will find an age old craft being practiced in an almost timeless manner.

As I approached the address, I right away knew someone here is a LOVER of books,
as there was a Free Library shelf tastefully placed out front of the entry path
that then lead up to a lovely craftsman style porch.

I walked into the main house, best described a multi-room display studio, I was
immediately struck by the fine quality and creative assortment of work on display for sale.

Here is a sampling of a few I found to be interesting;

OPUS FROM SPACE
"Almost everything I know is glad
to be born—not only the desert orangetip,
on the twist flower or tansy, shaking
birth moisture from its wings, but also the naked
warbler nestling, head wavering toward sky,
and the honey possum, the pygmy possum,
blind, hairless thimbles of forward,
press and part.

Almost everything I’ve seen pushes
toward the place of that state as if there were
no knowing any other—the violent crack
and seed-propelling shot of the witch hazel pod,
the philosophy implicit in the inside out
seed-thrust of the wood sorrel. All hairy
saltcedar seeds are single-minded
in their grasping of wind and spinning
for luck toward birth by water.

And I’m fairly shocked to consider
all the bludgeonings and batterings going on
continually, the head-rammings, wing-furors,
and beak-crackings, fighting for release
inside gelatinous shells, leather shells,
calcium shells or rough, horny shells. Legs
and shoulder, knees and elbows flail likewise
against their womb walls everywhere, in pine
forest niches, seepage banks and boggy
prairies, among savannah grasses, on woven
mats and perfumed linen sheets.

Mad zealots, every one, even before
beginning they are dark dust-congealings
of pure frenzy to come into light.

Almost everything I know rages to be born,
the obsession founding itself explicitly
in the coming bone harps and ladders,
the heart-thrusts, vessels and voices
of all those speeding with clear and total
fury toward this singular honor."

Snow
"Flake by flake
falling softly,
covering the ground in a white blanket.
The trees whisper in the wind—
snow, snow, snow they seem to say.
Smoke is billowing from chimneys into the cloudless sky.
A soft whoosh of the wind—
I watch. I listen.
I look at the setting sun.
It goes down
like a melting ice cream cone.
Through the fog I can see the ocean lapping up the sand.
The moon rises.
I get into bed
as I hear the chimes of winter.
I shut my eyes
and go to sleep."

As I walked throughout the display studio into a patio the led into a grassy courtyard,
I was greeted by letterpress printed gifts!
Tags with poems had been handprinted and displayed for guest to take away.
The trees and honeysuckle branches proudly displayed the poems as
they gently dances in the late afternoon breeze.

Sandy Tilcock's studio was brightly light and neatly displayed many pieces currently in the works.
The crown jewel of the room was the press affectionately nicknamed, "Phoebe".
I was so excited to pull sprint on this lovely machine, and jumped at the opportunity to do so!
The press ran smooth and clean and seemed to glide with little physical effort.

I was then invited into the lush garden courtyard.
Here I enjoyed a glass of Sparkling wine, nibbled on appetizers and met with friends.
It was a lovely way to wind up the day.

Midweek Motivation

Star Bunny Studio 2014

Midweek Motivation Is Here.
Thank my favorite founding father, Benjamin Franklin - for this one!

Sometimes, the simple pleasures are found, responsibly indulging in the
"Wisdom" or rather, "Freedom" of life.
Much more so than toiling away with the common "Bacteria".

Rise above,
find "Wisdom" and "Freedom"
in your own life.
Cheers!

Dia De Los Muertos, The Day Of The Dead

Star Bunny Studio 2014

Dia De Los Muertos, or Day Of The Dead celebrations in Mexico can be traced back to a
pre-Columbian past. This is a time for families to recognize and remember the souls of
the departed. However this is not a time for mourning - This is a time to enjoy life!

_________________________________________________________________________________

Frances Ann Day summarizes the three-day celebration, the Day of the Dead—

This year I took part in the Dia De Los Muertos celebration with Maude Kerns Art Center.
It was a joyous celebration featuring art, music, and dancing.
Here are a few highlights from the opening.

The Magic of Love

Star Bunny Studio 2014

A new week has landed upon us.
The feeling of summer is fading away into fall.
The more things change, the more it seems that change is the only sure thing you can bet on.

Seeing and feeling all this change has me thinking a bit about what has remained constant.
I am feeling extremely thankful for loving friendships that have weathered
all storms of change.

Let's face it - life is difficult!

Without our friends we can loose sight of our hopes & dreams, and begin to drift about
in the rough sea of life.
This is why it is so important to cultivate love with those around us.
With love in our hearts we can then gently remind ourselves and others of the unique sparks
every individual has. These sparks are what brings magic into our lives.

We are all players in this game.
If we choose to work together, and support each other
The possibilities are endless.

Start Your Week On A Thank You Note 2014

Star Bunny Studio 2014 Thank YOU!
Printable Thank You Note 2014

Just over two years ago, The Star Bunny Studio Blog began as an extension
of my work as a freelance designer.

After close to 3,000 hits, this has proven to be the most visited post on
The Star Bunny Studio Blog.

The idea behind the post was to spread generosity and appreciation
with a simple act of gratitude.

A simple Thank You can set into motion a wave of kindness.
That is why it is so important to recognize what we are grateful for,
acknowledge it, and then express appreciation for it.
The benefits of simply expressing gratitude to others can be life-altering,
and can be as easy as passing on a Thank You Note.

Can you remember that last time you gave someone a Thank You Note?

Above is a printable Thank You Note, for you to share with those you happen
to meet in your day that are worthy of a nice Thank You!
Print a few copies out and keep them on hand to give to those who make you smile.
When it comes to gratitude,
the more you give, the more you will receive.

Give Thanks to those in your world and create a wonderful new week!

Life Lessons

Star Bunny Studio 2014

Monday Motivation has found me, in the form of music.
When song lyrics send chills down your spine, you know you found something good!

The lyric above is from Lorde's Yellow Flicker Beat, Mockingjay Part 1.
The words sung so sweet, drifted into my head and made me think,
All the hard knocks in life, are often found around life lessons that have
become well learned. Without the hurt and pain we would never be able
to learn from the past, these lessons in life are truly
worth their weight in silver and gold.

Don't be weighed down by the battle scars of life.
Know that with every battle you take on, you will learn a lesson.
Treat these life lessons like precious gems, and apply your new
knowledge to a better tomorrow.

Dream on Dreamers

What do you dream of accomplishing in life?
Do you ever feel like your dreams are at the top of a huge scary mountain of doubt?
Do you feel a bit nervous at the idea of attempting to climb this mountain?

Rest assured, you are not the only one.

It is important to understand the magnitude of any endeavor, but equally important is to realize that dreams are obtainable.
You are the master of your own fate. You have the ability to achieve your dreams.
Never give up on your goals.
Work hard, dedicate your time, and keep going!
Your dreams are worth the effort.

Written On The Trees

Star Bunny Studio 2014

Walking through the woods, I came across this message gently written on a pine tree;

"Love may tear us apart...But fate will bring us together."

This message made me stop in my tracks and think.
Love can be painful.
Love is not always fluffy clouds and star filled nights.
Fate can guide one to find love,
but love is something intangible that cannot be held and locked away.
The only way to hold on to true love, is to reflect the love you wish to have into the world.

“Life and summer are fleeting,’ sang the bird.
‘Snow and dark, and the winter comes.
Nothing remains the same.”

Life Unplugged

I took the last few months of summer to actively look for and engage in what it is that I LOVE.
A quest to find and identify what gives me sparks of excitement, and fuels my personal fire.
For this quest I had to unplug from the screen, and start to actively engage in the real world.

While I did not document everything with my camera, I could not help but grab a few
shots of some of the things I saw and experienced on my summer adventures.
I am happy to share a few things I love with you.
