Industrial areas like this are common in areas around cities in the Great Lakes reigion.
Amazingly enough while traveling through early in the morning we saw
many water birds including egrets and blue heron in this area.

Incorporated as a city in 1837, Chicago is now the third most populated city in the USA,
and the largest in the Midwest Region.
The Willis Tower, perviously known as the Sears Tower, dominates the skyline standing at
1,541 feet tall. In 1973 the tower was deemed the tallest in the world, now it rakes as eighth.

A surprise awaited us in Wisconsin.
The unique limestone rock formation pictured above are
found along the Wisconsin river in an area known as the "Wisconsin Dells".

This area with it's scenic delights was more that fascinating.
Oddly enough this marketed to tourist as "The Waterpark Capital Of The World".

A joy of road travel is stumbling onto little roadside gems.
I found a great stop in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

We gassed up the car as the sun was beginning to set.
At this point I felt an undeniable need to get out of the car and stretched my legs.
Instantly my eye was drawn to this teepee standing off across the street.
Curiosity got the best of me. I had to take a look inside this structure.

Inside smooth black river rock covered the ground.
It was surprisingly spacious, and well lit with sunlight beaming in from above.

The many polls wrapped in canvas created a unique, sturdy, and simple structure.

The outside of the teepee featured a painting of two buffalos. This made my mind start thinking
about what the next day of travel along the Great American Plains held in store.

The sunset fired up as storm clouds began to thicken on the horizon.
It looked like we would be in for a stormy night.

I look forward to sharing more of this adventure with you in Part *3* of the USA Road Trip.
